The fire safety upgrade of the station combines contemporary safety requirements with precise planning within an existing structure. A fully BIM-based workflow integrates existing conditions, design and interdisciplinary coordination into a consistent digital planning process.
Upgrading existing railway infrastructure requires a careful balance between current fire safety standards and the constraints of the existing building fabric. The project aims to implement the fire safety concept while preserving and integrating the existing structure as an integral part of the design. The planning process is based on a comprehensive digital survey of the station. Following a complete 3D survey, the entire building was captured as a BIM model in Revit, providing the foundation for all planning phases from concept through detailed design (HOAI Phases 1–5). All disciplines are coordinated within a shared BIM coordination model. Digital clash detection and construction sequencing simulations support early interdisciplinary coordination and provide transparency throughout the planning process. Model-based cost estimation further improves accuracy and creates a reliable basis for informed project decisions from the earliest stages.
